Basic requirements for safety in use and accessibility (DB-SUA)
The aim of the basic requirement is to reduce to acceptable limits the risk of users suffering immediate harm during the intended use of buildings, because of the characteristics of their design, construction, use and maintenance.
- Basic requirement SUA 1: Safety against the risk of falls: the risk of users suffering falls will be limited, for which the floors will be suitable to encourage people not to slip, trip or have difficulty moving. Likewise, the risk of falls in gaps, in changes of level and on stairs and ramps will be limited, facilitating the cleaning of exterior glazing in safe conditions
As for the slipperiness of floors, they are classified according to their slip resistance value Rd, the higher the index the less slippery it is, so they will be considered Class 0 if Rd is less than or equal to 15, Class 1 if it is between 15-35, Class 2 if it is between 35-45, and Class 3 if Rd is greater than 45. Rd is calculated using the pendulum test described in the UNE – EN 12633:2003 standard.
Location and soil characteristics:
Dry interior areas with a slope of less than 6%
